penland school of crafts

I recently stumbled upon Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. I really want to take classes there someday. It’s an amazing little school and a tiny town of 200 people in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They have classes in books and paper, clay, drawing, glass, iron, metals, photography, printmaking and letterpress, textiles and wood. Here is the entrance sign.

I visited the gallery.

I saw Cristina Cordova’s “Cerca Y Lejos” exhibit.  These were so moving and HUGE.

Here are some pics of the classrooms. Who wouldn’t want to play here, right?

As I was walking the campus I came upon this porch with rockers. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I LOVE to rock.

I hope I have the privledge of attending a Penland class some day. It’s beautiful and the students and teachers are really nice and welcoming.

I’ve been traveling around North Carolina. Checking out the restroom situation and drinking in the fall colors. Here are some pics so you can enjoy it too.

painting acorns

It’s fall here in California. We skipped our summer and went straight to fall. This cool weather has me nesting and wanting to paint. I recently found a new surface. It’s acorns. They are everywhere this time of year. It brings the deer right up to our doorstep as we have three trees right at our front porch.
